Welcome to Class 2. Miss McMahon is the class teacher, teamed with Mrs Holdsworth and Mrs Hague.
Class 2's News!
Autumn 1
Last half term we were very busy! We began by looking at Little Red and acting out the story and rewriting it but changing the ending. We worked so hard on writing for longer and including lots of adjectives.
In Science, we looked at materials and designed a umbrella using the best materials for the job.
In history, we looked at the Great Fire of London and really enjoyed finding out all the facts and designing our own houses. We also set fire to them to support us with our writing in English.
DT saw us making fire engines and using different materials for the different parts of an engine. We compared ours to the ones they would have used during the Great Fire of London!
Autumn 2
This half term, we have started our rehearsals for our nativity and it is already sounding really good!
In English, we have written our set of instructions based on our book, The Tear Thief and are about to start writing some poetry with a Christmas theme.
In Geography, we looked at the UK and the different countries and features of each country. Can you remember the 4 countries?
In Science, we are learning about animals and humans and what they need to be healthy. We will be following this up by making healthy pizzas in our DT day!
Homework
In Year 2 we are expected to be reading 4 times a week at home. Children have a reading record and book which goes home every night so parents can enjoy listening to their children.
As well as this children have a log in for NUMBOTS and TTRS, where they can further enhance their number knowledge. We have been loving learning our times table so it is a great opportunity to show off to parents!
