Autumn 1
This term, we are looking at light in science and are going to further explore this with a trip to Eureka! and a light workshop.
In history, we are investigating prehistoric Britain with a focus on how archaeological evidence can tell us more about what life was like millions of years ago. We are also building some stone age houses and completing some paintings on our DT day.
In English, we have written a narrative based on 'The heart and the bottle' and are currently writing a setting description based on 'Leon and the place between'. We will also be writing autumnal themed instructions about making Pumpkin soup.
This term, we have also started learning Spanish!

In English, we have been focusing on our handwriting and remembering the all important capital letters and full stops. We have written a newspaper report and a story, both including direct speech.
In maths, we have focused alot on multiplication and division, utilising formal methods to support us. We have been playing lots of times tables games and have some worthy times tables Kings and Queens.
In science, we have been looking at the body and skeleton and can recall the main bones of the body. We described how the body moves using it's joints and even made a skeleton out off spaghetti and marshmellows!

Summer
This term, we have been learning about ancient Egyptians. We have explored their beliefs about Gods, Goddesses and the afterlife and even learned about mummification by embalming tomatoes! The children really enjoyed creating their own tomb carvings out of clay to write their names in hieroglyphics.
On art day, we studied French artist Henri Rousseau and hosted an art gallery to show our imaginative collages.
In maths, we have worked more on our fractions as well as mass and capacity, practicing weighing and measuring different amounts.
We have been learning about myths and legends, including writing recounts pretending to be the Dragon Slayer and also enjoyed pretending to be TV personalities advertising Noah's Ark from our text, Mrs Noah's Pockets.
Our class read this half term has been The Twits by Roald Dahl. We've heard all about the tricks the pair play on each other and have loved completing activities related to the text in our reading corner.
For science this term, we are finding out all about forces and magnets. We conducted an experiment to test different surfaces and discussed how to ensure this is a fair test.
